Our 2D action RPG is live. Play as Eldrin, a wandering magician, and drive the plague out of Oakhaven.

Lord Yamabushi Tengu perched on a rooftop in Oakhaven

Wanderer's Odyssey is live, and you can play it right now at odyssey.oddvexel.com. It's free, it runs in your browser, and it works on a phone if you turn it sideways.

The story

Oakhaven used to be a quiet village. Then Lord Yamabushi Tengu arrived. His plague raised the villagers as flesh-hungry dead and drove the beasts of the sacred forest mad. The only one left to do anything about it is Eldrin, a wandering magician sworn to the celestial arts.

To lift the curse you'll fight through three places: the village of Oakhaven, the World Tree Roots, and the Forbidden Graveyard. Tengu is waiting at the end.

How it plays

Eldrin fights up close with a staff and at range with magic. Staff combos are free. Spells cost mana, so you'll be switching between the two all the time:

  • Magic Bolt costs 10 MP. It's quick and cheap, and you'll use it constantly.
  • Celestial Sphere costs 40 MP. Save it for when a fight gets crowded.

You start with 100 HP and 100 MP, one health potion and one ether. Drink them a little before you need them, not after.

There's platforming as well. Hold jump for extra height, and drop through thin platforms when you need to get down in a hurry.

Pick your difficulty

When you create your hero you choose Easy, Medium or Hard. Medium is the one we designed around: fair, but the realm is dangerous. Easy is there if you want the story without the stress. Hard is for anyone who found Medium relaxing.

Your save

There's no account to make. Your hero, progress and settings are saved in your browser, on your device. That also means clearing your browser data, or playing in a private window, wipes your progress. Worth remembering before you clear your cache.
