Turbo Tracks: ten tracks and one very persistent police car

Our top-down racer is out. Ten tracks, three difficulties, nitro, drifting, and cops who really don't like speeding.

Turbo Tracks is a top-down 2D racer, and you can play it now at racing.oddvexel.com. It takes about ten seconds to learn: point the car, hold the gas, try not to hit the scenery. Getting stars on all ten tracks takes a good deal longer.

Ten tracks

Every race is three laps against three other cars. Tracks unlock as you go.

The police

Some tracks have a police car parked by the road. It chases you as you go past, and if you stop anywhere near it, you're busted. A normal race turns into a getaway, which was the whole idea.

Nitro and drifting

Stars on the track fill your nitro, and Shift burns it. Space is the handbrake, for drifting through corners you'd otherwise have to brake for.

Difficulty and rewards

Pick Easy, Medium or Hard before you race. Finish in the top three to win stars, and the harder the race, the more it pays: ×1 on Easy, ×1.5 on Medium and ×2 on Hard.

Play it anywhere

On a laptop, drive with the arrow keys or WASD. On a phone, turn it sideways. You can also install it from your browser and play it like any other app.
